I AM SPECIAL! I AM UNIQUE!

Goal: To help children have a strong sense of self and pride in who they are.

Suggested Reading:

All The Colors of the Earth by Shiela Hamanaka

Description:

Make a book about your child. Information you could include:

Name (how did they get their name, what does it mean), were they were born, age, who is in their family (siblings, pets too!), height, weight, color of eyes, hair and skin, heritage/where their ancestors came from, who lives in their home, what language is spoken at home, anything else you feel important to the child.

Have the child help make the descriptions, “Michael’s hair is black like a panther high in a tree, his skin is golden like wheat…”
Let the child illustrate the book. Read the book to your child, or if in a group take turns reading everyone’s book.
